A Better Blogger

So, I haven't blogged in this space in over a month... I know, I know, I am disappointed in me too. But when I make a mistake, I don't like to waste time on self pity and blame (other than the countless hours I mentally lecture myself on how I could be much further along in my career if I had more time, didn't have so many distractions & worked harder). So when that's over and done with, I get to fixing the problem gosh darn it! There's no point in having a blog if you don't update it regularly right? Well, I am asking you (my awesome subscribers & fans) to yell at me (PROBABLY BEST DONE IN ALL CAPS!) when I am not writing/publishing as I should be. Yell at me all you want. I deserve it. But aside from the scolding, I have come up with some ways that I (and all you other busy bloggers) can be A BETTER BLOGGER:

1) Set a Weekly (timely) Blog Deadline. That way, you are not confined to a particular date that you have to write on, but rather have a deadline (just the way real newspapers & magazines do) to stick to every single week to ensure you are consistently publishing content. For me, this includes putting the deadline in my PDA calender with a reminder alarm- it becomes permanent and "real" that way.

2) Use Resources More Wisely & Creatively. I think that each of us has an endless pool of resources that we can pull from if we only got more creative with them and think "outside the box" (heck, think through the box, be the box, and how about a circle?) whatever that means. Use Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Friendfeed, etc.. to promote your blog and encourage comments and conversations.

3) Make a list of topics and categories with brief outlines to encourage brainstorming IN ADVANCE. So that you are not stuck with blogger's block, you can create a list of topics & categories to start off your writing when you're short on time or simply run out of mental juice. When you have an outline to guide you, writing a post is much simpler and more fun too!

4) Write about your Expertise! I don't know about you, but being the curious person that I am, I like to know and DO everything...everything. Just look at my G-World and you'll see what I mean. I'm a psycho, I know. BUT, I have learned that in order to be great at something, you have to at least put your focus on say 10 things instead of 100. So, if I want to create a widget for my web tv shows, I READ a blog on it. So what do I WRITE about? Umm, my life. I know about that, so let's see.....that encompasses dancing, singing, acting, fitness, beauty, pageantry, wellness, natural/organic lifestyle, my quirkiness...and much much more folks! ;-P

5) Be Yourself. Cliche? Oui oui mes amis (that's French for yes, yes my friends)...but it's so true. This is why cliche's are around- because they bear some truths. So, fret not and let go of any preconceived notions you have about bloggers and blogs...and do YOURSELF some justice, and B.YOUneek! Ha! Just like my company ;-) (I'm not afraid or ashamed of a little self promotion here and there).

Oh, and just so you all know...my weekly blog deadline is Tuesday 10:00 PM.

Wow, that felt good. That's certainly a piece of me on paper (uhh, digital paper, webpage, html...you get the picture).

Of the G-blog slides, I like this one the best: "blue wall" ... but my all time fave of you is the dailymugshot one: "Wow! Curves!" :)

But what is that white oval above your head on the "blue wall" pic? It looks like a halo, but we all know better than that! hehe

Best wishes for your renewed blogging decision.
